BookPals started as a way to stop losing my own opinions in a group chat. I read fast, I read widely, and I got tired of five-star reviews that were really just “I liked the cover.” So I started filming myself talking about books the way I actually talk about them — with the boring parts included.

Every review on this site corresponds to a video where I sat down and actually explained why a book worked or didn't — not a number out of five, not a vague vibe. If it's slow, I'll tell you it's slow and whether that's a compliment.

What you won't find here: sponsored five-star reviews, engagement-bait “books that will change your life” lists, or a rating system that means nothing. What you will find: content warnings where they matter, mood and pacing tags so you can actually search for what you want, and a genre range that goes wherever a good book takes it.
